If you want to learn to paint or if you already know how you have come to the right place! Welcome to my studio! I have been in the fine arts field since 1970, when I started studying painting with oil paints on canvas. I studied every subject possible and found that my greatest pleasure was painting American Indians and past civilizations. I took many classes to learn about the culture; their potters, blankets and baskets. I came to have a great respect and appreciation for the Anasazi of the four corners region. I also love painting the scenery and flora of this area. In 1978 I opened the Shining Feather Art Academy For Women and started teaching other women like myself to paint. I loved seeing my students progress and grow in their abilities; and to see their beautiful finished paintings.In the past, I have had my oil works in many galleries in the southwest and have been in numerous art shows, exhibits and auctions. To my amazement I won many awards. I worked with oils exclusively for many years, until 2000, when I decided to try something different and started developing my skills with acrylic paints. This started me on a very exciting adventure! I have developed a new real passion for acrylics and have achieved ways of making them work and look like my oils. I love what I am doing now more than any time in my life. I love sharing my patterns and techniques with you! I want to thank all of you who have supported my efforts! I have met so many wonderfully nice people at conventions, classes, and through this site. I look forward to many more "painting" years! Being a "Born Again Christian" I believe that God blesses everyone with some kind of talent, my blessing is my creative ability and that by sharing this talent with others I am honoring and showing my appreciation to God for blessing me with this talent! If you are wondering about my name, Shining Feather, this was given to me by an American Indian at a Mountain Man Rendezvous years ago, I was wearing feathers in my hair that were very shinny. Remember that you don't need talent to learn how to paint! Thinking that you have to be born with natural talent to be an artist is an "Old Wives Tale!" All it really takes is good teacher to teach you, and the desire to do it plus some time and effort on your part.
The Bible says that God prepared hell for the devil and his demonic cohorts (Matthew 25:41), that He is "...not wishing for any [person] to perish but for all to come to repentance." (II Peter 3:9), and that He has done everything possible to save us from that terrible, terrible place. Something to Ponder One of the classic problems that people bring up is: How can a God of love send anybody to Hell? Well, there are several answers to that. One of course is that God doesn't send anyone to Hell. You send yourself there. God has done everything He possibly can to keep you out of Hell and still leave you as a person with free will and not just a robot. That's the way He made us--after His image, after His likeness, the power to say "yes" or the power to say "no," the power to reject our own Creator, and of course to take the consequences.
